Hokushinkai style as Japanese acupuncture and moxibustion

It has been almost 40 years since we advocated the Hokushinkai style.

We have revived the Mubun School Dashin of which Japan can boast, and are continuously making efforts toward improvement suited to Japanese people in the modern age. We have also established a diagnostic treatment system placing emphasis on body surface examinations including the tongue, pulse, and acupoint diagnoses specifically pertaining to all four examinations. By now, we have achieved a degree of beneficial effects even in the treatment of intractable diseases through research and development of acupuncture needles, the creation of unique techniques such as flexural filiform needle insertion, needle tapping, and the non-insertion using kodaishin*, as well as the exploration of the features of acupoints that can exclusively be revealed by treatment with a small number of acupoints.

Moreover, we recommend to study meteorology written in the Huangdi’s Internal Classic to take advantage of conducting treatment in accordance with seasonal local conditions and patient individuality. At the same time, we devote ourselves to the studies of classical techniques for acupuncture and moxibustion, in our ongoing efforts to devise ever more sophisticated treatments.

Today, we flatter ourselves that the Hokushinkai is a full-scale acupuncture and moxibustion school representing Japan, bringing wisdom of Japanese acupuncture together. Conforming to the theories of Huangdi’s Internal Classic, we attach great importance to clinical practice.

We are engaged in a wide range of activities. These include education of young people at regular meetings and large-scale workshops for doctors in various fields and medical students as well as acupuncturists, the writing of technical books, submission of case reports and research contents to various academic meetings and specialized journals, development of lecturers, and the introduction of a clinical training system.
In August 2016, a theoretical treatise encompassing a full-fledged systematic text was published. (“Acupuncture clinical competency–Hokushinkai style: Theory edition” Midori Shobo Co., Ltd.) 【Fig.1】

No Hokushinkai-style textbooks have been translated into English, but we would be very pleased for as many medical practitioners from around the world as possible to gain an overall understanding of the Hokushinkai style and its clinical features.
We also hope not only for them to observe the clinical practice of Hokushinkai style acupuncture but also that they receive a treatment, in order to experience its essence personally, if given the chance.
To begin with, don’t miss the following sessions in WFAS 2016.
